I am disappointed that Coward should have written this. I don't hold the view that the Royal Court and its Angry Young Men have sole responsibility for changing the course of british theatre. The Court and Osborne have their part in this, but I think the reviews by Tynan and Harold Hobson played their part as did Theatre Workshop . In earlier times Coward did as well, with "The Vortex". Seems a bit venomous. Perhaps he didn't like being out of the limelight. Theatre had changed, as post war life had changed and perhps he was just left behind!
